The Giant Cell Tumor of the Sacrum

Abstract
Giant cell tumor of bone occurs predominantly in young person above 20 years of age, its predilection being at the epiphyseal side of long bones. The authors present here a successfully treated case of benign giant-cell tumor, which occurs in a young girl 17 years of age and situated at the sacrum, the unusual site of occurrence of this tumor,
The x-ray finding as well as the clinical manifestation of this case apparently indicated that it might be a malignant one, while it proved definitely benign by its histological examination.
The interpretation of biopsy specimen especially from the case already treated surgically must be precautious, as it is sometimes regarded as malignant, while the superimposed infection, the mishandling of the specimen, and the variegated
pathological process within the tumor itself are solely attributable to the seemingly malignant appearance.
